The original Veyron was one of the most powerful and fastest hypercars of its decade.
But as nowadays, it could be beaten by several candidates for the title of 0-60 within 2.5 seconds or under; some of which are purely electric such as the Aspark Owl, Rimac Concept Two, and new Tesla Roadster with 1.69, 1.85, and 1.9 seconds respectively.
The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, although less powerful had a similar 0-60 acceleration period to the Veyron (and its successor; the Chiron) thanks to its extensive use of bare carbon fiber which made the Lamborghini weigh less than even a Ford Focus.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon even though it was an insanely powered up muscle car beats the Veyron/Chiron by about 0.2 seconds in 0-60 time.
And one new hypercar that stood out lately could be the Koenigsegg Gemera, with a seating capacity of two more people than the Veyron/Chiron through a huge opening to a spacious cabin, and the innovation of a small camless 3-cylinder engine producing 600 hp fused with three electric motors for a combined power output of 1700 hp. It even had a 0-60 time similar to the new Tesla Roadster.
